The Colorado Department of Transportation contracted us to make a wide range of safety improvements to State Highway 119 in Black Hawk.
We widened portions of the road from two to four lanes, straightened the roadway by constructing a bridge over North Clear Creek Road, and installed 3,300 linear feet of mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining walls.
The corridor is designated as a Superfund site due to the impact of mining on the area, and our contract included the remediation of mine tailings, as well as wetlands restoration and stream-bed stabilization. We also handled rock mitigation, traffic control and public information services.
